Pros & Cons

Pros of the Invisalign System

  • Cosmetically this is a level up from the tooth-coloured fixed brace, as it is made up of sets of removable, virtually invisible clear aligners. You change these removable clear plastic braces on a two weekly basis and as you progress along sequential aligners, your teeth straighten in accordance with the previously illustrated 3-D computer design.
  • Invisalign are the market leader in clear aligner systems, with the longest history and good pro-active support.
Cons of the Invisalign System
  • Sometimes it is necessary to fix small attachments made of white filling material to your teeth to assist the process of straightening your teeth with Invisalign treatment.
  • If teeth are being extracted as part of your orthodontic treatment, most orthodontists would not recommend Invisalign, as it may be difficult to successfully close the gaps.
  • As Invisalign aligners are removable, the temptation is to take them out whenever you feel they are inconvenient. If the aligners are worn for less than 22 hours a day, the extent of correction can be variable, and so the end result may fall short of expectations in such a scenario.
  • Due to Invisalign being the market leader in the removable clear brace system, it may not be as affordable as other systems. Let us know if you would like to consider Invisalign to improve your smile, and we will aim to give you an estimate of how much these clear braces would cost.
