These ‘hidden braces’ are fitted behind your teeth, but work in a similar way to conventional metal fixed orthodontic appliances. After downpayment of your initial deposit, treatment costs from £260 per month.

Pros & Cons

Pros of Lingual Braces

  • These are the least visible of all orthodontic braces, and in the main have nothing present on the outside of your teeth through the majority of treatment.
  • There are a number of lingual bracket systems available, however Incognito is the market leader in the lingual appliance field.
  • Lingual braces are suitable for treating most types of bite problems, in the same way as a conventional fixed brace; the only difference being they can’t be seen.
  • The Incognito lingual system is custom made to fit only your mouth, so the precision in tooth-positioning is very good.

Cons of Lingual Braces

  • Treatment time is, on average, a little longer than with a conventional fixed brace, and each appointment takes around half an hour, as opposed to 15 minutes.
  • Your tongue will get a little sore for a week or two after the upper appliance is fitted, however speech and discomfort usually return to normal within 3 weeks.
  • As this is a custom made brace, there is a cost implication to the manufacture of the appliance, which does not apply to conventional metal or tooth-coloured braces.

The cost of lingual braces varies depending on how complex each particular case is, and we offer affordable payment plans as routine for all our patients.
